End of the line

June 4, 2008, 09:46 a.m. EST

Hi guys...

The June 2008 issue of Bootleg will be our last. Advertising dollars have fallen off dramatically, and money makes the world go around.

I want to thank all our readers and advertisers; you made us a reality.

Thanks also to all the writers, interns, press guys, delivery personnel, Web people and cult leaders that contributed. A special shout-out to my publisher Joni Weerheim and ad manager Jay Brooks for letting me birth and guide this thing. It was fun as hell.

A special nod and a wink goes out to my mentor Brett McLaughlin, managing editor at The Daily Journal/Messenger.

Most of all, I would like to thank Bootleg's art director, Keith Warther. He made every issue look awesome. Keith also has excellent facial hair.

Bootleg had a good year-and-a-half run. I think it's fair to say we helped make the Clemson area a little cooler during that time. At the end of the day, the market probably wasn't a good fit for us — kind of like my parachute pants from seventh-grade.

Anyway, thanks again.

Peace and chicken grease...
