Is there a movie that keeps you up at night?

In my latest Silver Screen column, I list the top five most disturbing movies of all time. A mix of classic (“The Exorcist†at number two) and modern (drug tale “Requiem for a Dream†in third place), these movies shatter boundaries of sanity and show how everyday people can be affected by acts of horror both anonymous and gratuitous.

Any of these shockers get you? Post your vote in the comments section below.

Requiem for a Dream is most definitely a film that is truly and utterly capable of sinking its hooks into my otherwise unshaken resolve. To see such captivatingly sympathetic character portrayals meet their assorted, but no less ghastly and awful, fates at the film's climax do indeed give one pause. Requiem for a Dream offers a truly tangible specimen as to the fact that, in life, if you are not careful, you can lose everything you've worked for in a split second. And there will be nothing that you or anyone else can do about it- because it will all be too late.
